ARTIST SUPPORT PLEDGE Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is #artistsupportpledge?

Artist Support Pledge is a generous culture and dynamic economy in support of ALL artists and makers. Artists post pictures of their works for sale for no more than £200 (200 USD/ 200 Euro/ 300AUD/ 300CAD/ 20,000 JPY plus postage). Everytime an artist makes £1,000 (or equivalent) in sales they commit 20% on purchasing the work of another artist using the hashtag. There are no enforcements, it is a system based on trust where everyone, at every level can contribute in supporting artists and makers.

Can I charge more than £200?

The scheme works becuase it is simple. Please only use the #artistsupportpledge for selling work under £200 ($200). If you wish to sell more expensive works, do so on your own Instagram account. Please do not use the # for this.

I want to sell my art. Can I take part?

Yes. Anyone can take part from anywhere in the world. This is a global movement and works best when we stay united.

I want to buy art . Can I take part?

Yes. Anyone can take part. This is open to everyone, everywhere around the world.

How do I take part?

Artists post images of their work and the ASP tile and text on Instagram adding the #artistsupportpledge, with details and price.  If people are interested in buying, they message (DM) the artist. For more detailed guidance  see the How To page or post on Instagram @artistsupportpledge

Every time an artist reaches £1,000 (of sales, they pledge to buy £200 (200 USD/ 200 Euro/ 300 AUD/ 300 CAD/ 20,000 JPY) of work from other artists. Lots of donations are being made and encouraged as well, made to particular concerns such as @_hospitalrooms

I’ve posted work but I can’t see my images, can you help?

If you have used the # (check the spelling is correct) your work will be there if you have posted it (see ‘How to See Artwork’ page). Click on recent at the top. Your work will move around as new content is posted. You do not need to see it on the # for it to work.

NB/ we DO NOT select work to be seen, if you have used the # Instagram does the rest.

Unfortunately I am unable to help each person individually.

What’s the catch?

No catch.

The pricing structure is deliberately low – up to 200 USD/ 200 GBP /200 Euro/ 300 AUD/ 300 CAD/ 20,000 JPY plus postage.

It’s an act of generosity to take part, and there is no enforcement beyond trust and the #artistsupportpledge community on Instagram (which is massive and growing!)

I have a different currency, what price can I sell for?

We suggest you use 200 USD as a base, fix a round number in your local currency plus postage.

I want to support artists. How do I do it?

Buy art. Go to #artistsupportpledge and see what you like. Buy some more art. Then buy some more art.

Remember after £1,000 of sales, the artists are pledging to buy other artist’s work, so you are supporting a network of generosity which is much greater than the sum of its parts.

Can I sponsor the movement or make a donation?

The first and best thing you can do, is to buy art from individual artists. Donations are very welcome as our team needs paying too. Please see the ‘Give’ page for regular and one-off donations.

Hopefully these FAQs will help answer your questions. If you still have further questions please email: creategenerosity@gmail.com and I will do my best to get back to you as soon as we can.

I love hearing how you are doing. You can share your experiences and sales successes by video. If you want to do that, please post a short video clip on your Instagram account, explaining why you are getting involved. Remember to speak directly to your audience and to TAG @artistsupportplege in your post.

I am doing my best to keep up with demand for enquiries however this scheme is now global and currently I’m not unable to answer everyone individually.
